Let's go behind the scenes of a music video shoot for the Legend Malkeet Singh & Manj Musik
I want to share you a story of shooting a music video with the Legend Malkeet Singh and Manj Musik. It is called ‘Nahi Nachna’ sung by Biba Singh, Golden Star Malkeet Singh and was released on speed records label. Music was given by Manj Musik.
The video was shot in Punjab and I still remember it was raining that day. Early in the morning when I came to the set of our music video, It was raining heavily. We could not shift the music video shoot to next day because our star Malkeet Bhaaji and Manj Musik was not available till the next month, so we had to shoot it that day itself.
Biba Singh was very positive about the music video and she said that we will do it today itself. Watching my team’s energy for the shoot i was also convinced that we will shoot same day.
Our Cinematographer Mohan started setting up his lights with the help of his crew. They did rain proofing so that the lights do not get wet or any short circuit doesn’t happens which can damage the lights. We started with Biba’s verse, she had a beautiful yellow costume and in the background we had bhangra dancers wearing traditional white attires. We started with the shoot and suddenly the rain started pouring. We had to wait for another half an hour, post that the rain stopped and we started shooting again.
This time we were in more energy to get as many shots as possible as more rain clouds were approaching. Biba was so supportive as she never took rest and gave us so many takes and i was really happy with it.
After shoot of Biba it was turn for TRS. We took a lot of shots with both and also shot the sync portions. And then arrived our main star The Golden Star Malkeet Singh. At that the the rain stopped suddenly and then never happened till night. Malkeet bhaaji was full of energy, he performed his steps so well and with full energy that our bhangra dancers were getting tired. But with that energy came a positivity on the set. It was an amazing experience shooting with Malkeet bhaaji and i hope to work with him again.
After Malkeet bhaaji’s verse, our Music Producer Manj Musik arrived on set. He was coming straight from the wagha border specially for this shoot. As soon he arrived he didn’t waste any time and went to his vanity to change his clothes and get the makeup done. Manj Musik and Malkeet Singh gave an energectic duo performance which you can see in the video below.

We won the best music video of the year award and Best music director of the year award by the UK Bhangra Awards in London, 2021
All’s well when it ends well. The shoot was done nicely, we had a gala release and also got awarded for our efforts. I would say this was a team effort, so this award goes to my team.
